Crane Operator Classes Fort Mcmurray - Crane operator training is for operators and supervisors of overhead lifting machinery. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content includes applicable state, federal and provincial safety regulations. The first component of training consists of complete in-class lessons and examination. After that is a customized hands-on session with practical lessons and evaluation.
The content of the course applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting crane machinery. The instruction would specifically focus on all aspects of crane operation which can be performed at the trainee's workplace. Upon completion of the course, people training would know how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, related components and attachments in a safe and efficient way.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits which an operator might develop while operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be avoided with right practices. Training reduces the chance of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The duration of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of hands-on, customized, on-site training. Participants will be graded on their knowledge of training material via written testing and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is 80%.
The in-class session, the trainee would be taught regarding causes of damages and occurrences, guidelines and legislation, hazard awareness, internal responsibility, design principles and basic equipment, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, safe hosting/operating techniques, pre-shift equipment checks, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, operator/pedestrian safety, angles and hitches, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course must be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training will be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training component is one to two hours. Two operators at a time would be trained by the instructor on skills like for example planning the lift, proper rigging practices and safe operation.
Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee would write a test. Signed safety rules would be needed from each participant. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate will be provided to the company.
